Мало, трновито дрво до 4 м висине, које више личи на грм.
Често расте на ивицама шума или култивисаних површина, формирајући велике бодљикаве, хладовите и влажне зоне.
Цвета између априла и јуна, цветови су ситни и беле су боје, груписани у букетиће.
Супротно од других биљака из Rosaceae подврсте, цветови глога се појављују после листа.
Интензивно зелени листови су подељени на три дубоко назубљена дела.
Црвени плодови су приближно, величине зрна грашка и појављују се између септембра и октобра.

Small, prickly tree of up to 4 m in height, generally looking more like a bush. It often grows at the edges of forests and cultivated fields, forming an important part of the bramble patches of the cool humid zones. It flowers between the months of April and June, giving rise to small, white flowers grouped in bunches. In contrast to other Rosaceae species, the common hawthorn's flowers appear after the leaves. The intense green leaves are divided into 3 deeply dentate lobules. The red fruit are about the size of a pea and appear between the months of September and October.
